Dick’s Last Resort – Gatlinburg Restaurant Review

Nov 14, 2022 | Food, Restaurants, Reviews

Do you like good ol’ greasy American food? Do you like fun, festive environments? Do you like being talked to rudely? Do you like chaos?

Then boy do we have a place for you! Dick’s Last Resort.

Dick's Last Resort Exterior

Dick’s Last Resort is situated on Parkway, and it might appear like any other typical bar and grill…but this place is anything but typical! The setup is that the restaurant PURPOSELY has service staff who are very rude to the customers. And the place is a mess, with napkins strown everywhere. If you are able to keep that in mind (and you have a sense of humor), you will have a BLAST!

One of the gimmicks the staff employs is the placing of paper hats on the patrons’ heads with very rude and demeaning comments scrawled upon them. It is not unusual to actually see people walking around town still wearing the hats. Does the rudeness go too far sometimes? Maybe. If you are going to eat here, you MUST keep in mind that it is all just part of the fun. It’s kind-of like going to a comedy show featuring a comedian who makes fun of members of the audience.

So that pretty much sums up the environment. It is a fun, wacky place…and you are very likely to be insulted, So how is the food? To test it out, we just went with a combo appetizer so we could sample a few different items. We ordered Dick’s Sampler Platter, which for $22.99 (at the time of this writing) includes chicken tenders, fried pickle chips, buffalo wings, and cheese sticks – a very nice bar food sample.

Dick's Last Resort Meal

The food was good. Full confession: your humble reviewer loves bar food. Everything was fried up just right, and the portions were very large. The items in the appetizer sampler were all cooked perfectly and tasted great. Nothing to complain about. For what it’s worth, though, I don’t think you come to Dick’s Last Resort if you are looking for the best meal in town. You don’t come to Dick’s just for the food – you come for the food AND the entertainment.

Dicks' Last Resort Menu

The complete menu includes a full array of items such as burgers, pasta, salads, flatbread and much more. Everyone in your party should be able to find something they like (or at least the kind of food they like). Again, is this going to be the best meal you’ve ever had? No. But will you have a good time on your Gatlinburg vacation? Yep.

Dick’s Last Resort is located at:

903 Parkway
Gatlinburg, TN 37738

Like most things in downtown Gatlinburg, it is an easy walk from the Historic Gatlinburg Inn. It sits at the entrance to Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler. If you want to grab a burger at Dick’s Last Resort and then go listen to some bluegrass on the Ole Smoky stage, that would be a great way to spend an afternoon.
