Ripley’s World of Illusions has been an entertainment staple on the main strip of Gatlinburg for years. Situated in the middle of town, on Parkway (a short walk from the Historic Gatlinburg Inn), the museum features a bunch of fascinating illusions that have you questioning if what you’re seeing is real.
A central theme of many of the illusions is watching one thing turn into something else right before your eyes. One example is a transforming young-to-old Elvis bust sitting on a pedestal.
X-ray vision and levitation are also concepts explored in the museum. There are even diagrams on the walls explaining how some classic magic tricks (which are similar to some of the illusions) are performed.
The museum is interactive, inviting visitors to participate in the illusions. Want your friends to see you disappear? You can do it here.
The trip through the World of Illusions is a fairly short one, but you can take your time and do it at your own pace. From a monetary standpoint, this is one of the better values in town.
So if you’re walking down the street in Gatlinburg and you come across the World of Illusions, take the time to give it a tour. If you have kids, they will definitely love it!
Ripley’s World of Illusions is located at 716 Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg. Recommended for families as a low cost entertainment option that will fascinate your children.
