The Winter Sports of Ober Gatlinburg

Dec 13, 2016 | News, Things to do

Before Dollywood (and the amusement parks that property was before it was Dollywood), our big mountain family fun draw was Ober Gatlinburg in, you guessed it, Gatlinburg. Ober’s been an iconic fixture of Sevier County’s highlands since the days when color television was considered a luxury and one of the biggest reasons it remains even more popular now than it was then is because it offers something no one else in town or for miles and miles around offers.

  1. Skiing!
  2. Snowboaring!
  3. Snowtubing!

Make the Historic Gatlinburg Inn your ski lodge for this years ski trip to Gatlinburg. Close to all the action, restaurants, night life and fun. We are a short walk from the Gatlinburg Aerial Tram, it is a great way to get up on the mountain and enjoy a fantastic experience all at the same time. Vacations are suppose to be fun, don’t worry about where to park, leave your care with us and go explore town.

Yes sir, Ober Gatlinburg is the only place in town that offers legitimate Winter Sports entertainment. Ober Gatlinburg is situated high up in the mountains that loom over the city and their back area is specifically designed to provide amateurs, professionals and any skilled person in-between them the opportunity to sled and shred whether or not the snow comes from the sky that day. Ober Gatlinburg employs professional snowmaking equipment to provide the necessary material so that visitors can enjoy their favorite winter sports earlier in the winter season (since we don’t often get calls for snow before January) and the restaurant nearby functions as a full-service ski lodge to enjoy after you’re finished.

Additional amenities include:

  • Full-service ski school and instructions.
  • Equipment and clothing rentals.

And then you have the rest of Ober Gatlinburg‘s indoor center to enjoy as well. It’s one of the few attractions you can think of where just getting to the park is often an attraction of its own for many visitors (that’s the aerial tramway), there’s the wildlife habitat, the unique stores, the arcade and redemption area, the indoor carousel… that’s a full day’s worth of activities in that list alone.
