The Melting Pot: Fondue with a View in Downtown Gatlinburg

Jan 15, 2025 | Food, Places to Eat In Gatlinburg, Restaurants, Reviews

If you’re in the mood for something a little different, The Melting Pot in Gatlinburg is a great spot to check out. This fondue restaurant, located on the second floor of a building in the heart of downtown, offers a unique dining experience with a side of charm.

I decided to grab a seat at the bar, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. From there, you get a nice view overlooking downtown Gatlinburg—a fun spot for people-watching while you enjoy your meal. The bar area has a relaxed vibe, making it a great option if you’re dining solo or just looking for a more casual experience.

But let’s talk about the main dining area because it’s something special. With its dim lighting and cozy atmosphere, it practically whispers “date night.” Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, enjoying a honeymoon meal, or just impressing your special someone, The Melting Pot has all the makings of a romantic evening. Sharing a pot of fondue is inherently interactive and fun—there’s something about dipping your food together that sparks connection.

Now, back to the food. I kept things simple with the Fiesta cheese fondue, and it was a decision I don’t regret. This particular fondue is a blend of aged cheddar, Emmenthaler, Sam Adams Boston Lager, house-made salsa, and jalapeño. It’s got a little heat, but nothing too overwhelming, and the flavors blend beautifully. It arrives in a little pot over a boiler to keep it warm and comes with a wooden platter piled high with artisan bread pieces, fruits, and fresh veggies for dipping. It was fresh, flavorful, and an absolute treat.

While I stuck to the cheese fondue, the menu offers a full four-course dinner option for two. This includes cheese fondue, salad, an entrée, and dessert fondue. It’s a complete experience and ideal for a special night out. At $100+ for two people, it’s on the pricey side, but it’s hard to beat the combination of great food and an intimate atmosphere.

So, whether you’re looking for a romantic night out or just want to treat yourself to some incredible cheese fondue, The Melting Pot is well worth a visit. It’s a unique dining experience that adds a little flair to your time in Gatlinburg. Just don’t forget to pace yourself—fondue can be surprisingly filling!
