Timbers Log Cabin – Gatlinburg Restaurant Review

Feb 23, 2022 | Food, Places to Eat In Gatlinburg, Restaurants, Reviews

Timbers Log Cabin is a unique restaurant located in the Arts & Crafts district of Gatlinburg. Is this a good place to stop in for a bite while you’re exploring Smoky Mountain arts? Read on to find out.

Timbers Log Cabin Inside

Timbers Log Cabin really is what its name suggests – a log cabin! This is what a mountain restaurant should look like. It is rustic and homey – casual and comfortable – authentic and absolutely unpretentious. The walls are decorated with colorfully illustrated letters, artwork, signs and Christmas decorations.

The menu pages are pasted to the order counter next to a hand-written “Place Order.” This is not a fancy place, and that’s good. As you would expect from a log cabin restaurant, the menu has a healthy number of breakfast items, and breakfast is served all day. The breakfast menu has all of the standards: pancakes, French toast, eggs, biscuits and gravy, grits, toast, bacon and sausage.  The Chef’s Specialty is Savannah Bay Street shrimp and grits that is prepared with all kinds of ingredients and served over grits with bacon bits.

The menu also offers various soups, salads, sandwiches and burgers. We noticed something unusual on the menu – something we had never seen at any other restaurant –  so we decided to give it a try.

We ordered their signature burger – the Timber’s Log Toast Burger. This beauty consists of a one-third pound hand patted beef patty served on cinnamon French toast with a fried egg, bacon, cheese (we went with pepper jack)  and syrup on the side. For our side item, we ordered the house potatoes – seasoned, hand-sliced potatoes fried in olive oil.

This thing was good! It seems like a strange combination – powdered sugar, beef and cheese?

The taste is hard to describe, but it works. Somehow it all goes together. It is different from any burger we have ever had. If you are the type who likes to stick with what you know and not step too far out of the box, then it might not be for you. But if like to try new things, then you need to try this!

Timbers Log Cabin

The staff were VERY friendly and attentive, and really made us feel at home.
